Bloombase Adds Ultra Electronics AEP’s Keyper Line of HSMs to Growing List of Interoperable Data-at-Rest Security Solutions

SUNNYVALE, California – June 13, 2016 - Bloombase is pleased to announce that through its partnership with Ultra Electronics AEP, it is now able to offer greater flexibility and choice to large-scale organizations and enterprises looking to benefit from security hardened key storage and data-at-rest security. This partnership provides out-of-the-box interoperability between Ultra Electronics AEP’s class-leading Keyper line of HSMs (Hardware Security Module) and Bloombase’s StoreSafe data-at-rest encryption security solution. Improving cross-vendor interoperability significantly increases the flexibility for customers to pick and choose security solutions that best meet their specific needs, thereby increasing security overall and benefiting the industry as a whole.

The phenomenal rise in the accessibility of digital data has swept across the business landscape and has created today’s pervasive, data-driven business operations. It has become a race for enterprises to simultaneously satisfy the insatiable desire for instant secure access to business intelligence, process the massive amounts of data generated, automate processes and minimize risks, whilst gaining maximum returns. Organizations and enterprises alike are pushed to innovate and adapt, whilst preserving data privacy and trust. At the same time, a paradigm shift has occurred in the way data is hosted. Increasingly, businesses are migrating their services from physical, brick-and-mortar datacenters, to service oriented virtual datacenters and cloud infrastructure environments in order to gain economical and scale advantages. This complicates the issue of data protection and security as mission-critical data may no longer be stored on-site. Protection of data and the encryption keys used to protect them has become a critical operational concern.

Bloombase’s StoreSafe helps to safeguard data with industry-standard cryptography to protect against outbound data and exfiltration threats. It is a complete turnkey, data-at-rest encryption security solution. It is designed to secure physical or virtual datacenter and cloud infrastructures, offering seamless protection in either on-site of off-site deployments. This ensures that data encryption security is preserved as operational needs evolve. StoreSafe is a high-speed, high-performance, real-time data encryption solution that secures all types of enterprise data, whether structured or unstructured, and supports heterogeneous storage environments. StoreSafe is deployed as a “drop-in” software appliance, requires zero operational changes and does not impact user workflows. Additionally, it supports PKCS#11 HSMs and OASIS KMIP key managers, is IEEE1619 compliant and takes advantage of Intel AES-NI hardware cryptographic technology for maximum performance.

Ease of deployment and integration is another key concern for organizations. This joint solution with Ultra Electronics AEP unlocks access to the combination of Bloombase’s StoreSafe encryption security with Ultra Electronics AEP’s Keyper line of encryption key HSMs. Featuring NIST FIPS 140-2 Level 4 certification (the highest available in the market), true hardware random key generation as well as hardware cryptographic acceleration, Ultra Electronics AEP offers powerful, tamper-proof and tamper-evident, security-hardened key storage and protection. This industry leading combination is suited to a variety of use cases including encryption of CMSs (Content Management Systems), DMSs (Document Management Systems), file servers, databases, backup archives, data warehouses, virtual servers, VDIs (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure), Big Data repositories and cloud storage services, amongst many others. Furthermore, this combination significantly simplifies compliance with regulatory confidentiality requirements.

“We understand how challenging the market is today for organizations and enterprises. We want to make sure that customers have access to the highest levels of security by making it easier for them to build security solutions around products from vendors they trust and are familiar with.” said Sean Xiang, Bloombase CEO. “Partnering with Ultra Electronics AEP allows for interoperability and through this, customers gain a powerful plug-in solution from two of the industry’s leading vendors.”

Product Director at Ultra Electronics AEP, Rob Stubbs, outlines how this partnership will offer significant benefits for end users. “Large enterprises and government organizations around the world already choose the Ultra Electronics Keyper™ HSM to protect their most valuable intellectual assets”, explains Rob Stubbs. “The Keyper HSM adds a FIPS 140-2 Level 4 validated security element to applications such as PKI (Public Key Infrastructure), DNSSEC (Domain Name System Security Extensions), DRM (Digital Rights Management), code signing and database encryption. Customers can now also encrypt their data at rest using Bloombase’s next-generation data security solutions with the assurance that their private keys are generated and protected by the most trusted HSM in the world, never leaving the tamper-responsive crypto module.”
